Prof. Dr. Torsten Faber

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Torsten Faber is the head of the Wind Energy Technology Institute (WETI) at Flensburg University of Applied Sciences since 2010. After an apprenticeship as a carpenter and studies in civil engineering at the Technical University of Hanover, Torsten Faber completed his doctorate at the Technical University of Hamburg-Harburg in the field of steel construction and timber construction.

This was followed by professional positions as a structural engineer and project manager as well as a calculation engineer. Before joining Flensburg University of Applied Sciences, Torsten Faber was head of the rotor blades and structural engineering department at Germanischer Lloyd from 2003 to 2010.

Since 2019, Torsten Faber has acted as an expert assessor for the German Accreditation Body (DAkkS) and the Renewable Energies Sector Committee. He is also a member of the advisory board of the energy committee of the Flensburg Chamber of Industry and Commerce and a founding board member and managing director of Windenergiezirkel Hanse e.V.

His main research interests and teaching activities are in the field of the building structure, support structure, rotor blades, service life analysis and certification of wind turbines.
