Biography
Nora Stognief is a research associate at the Department of Energy and Environmental Management at Europa-Universität Flensburg since January 2022 and a guest researcher in the Workgroup for Economic and Infrastructure Policy at Technische Universität Berlin. From 2018 to 2021, she was a student assistant at the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW Berlin) in the junior research group CoalExit.
She is a doctoral researcher in the CoalExit group starting in December 2021 and holds a scholarship from the German Federal Environmental Foundation (Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt, DBU). In her research, she analyses the structural change process in the lignite mining region Lausitz through the interdisciplinary lens of sustainability transition studies. Her focus is on the role of the water-energy nexus in the social-ecological transition as well as on aspects of participation and empowerment of actors.
She holds a master’s degree in Environmental Planning from TU Berlin and a bachelor’s degree in Environmental and Resource Management from BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg. During her bachelor studies, she spent a semester abroad at Ateneo de Manila University in the Philippines.
