TESPy ("Thermal Engineering Systems in Python") is an open-source-licensed software for the simulation and calculation of thermal energy systems, such as heat pumps and refrigeration machines, thermal power plants or piping systems, e.g. for district heating. The package has been developed at ZNES Flensburg since 2017 as part of the open energy modeling framework (oemof). Transparency and reproducibility are particularly important here.
The software enables the component-based design of thermal energy systems and the steady-state calculation of the partial load behavior. Thanks to a wide range of components and different working media, almost any system topology from the various disciplines of thermal energy technology can be modeled. In addition, methods of thermodynamic process analysis by using tools such as the exergy analysis are provided.
